The 1992/93 season remains one of Norwich City’s greatest league campaigns. In the inaugural Premier League season, Mike Walker’s team finished third with 72 points, behind Manchester United and Aston Villa. Norwich recorded 21 victories from 42 league matches, with Mark Robins finishing as their leading Premier League scorer with 14 goals.
The achievement was particularly remarkable because Norwich had finished only 18th in the old First Division the previous season. Instead of fighting relegation, the Canaries became unexpected title challengers and ultimately secured European qualification. Period shirt documentation confirms that Norwich wore this home design during that third-place campaign.
That qualification produced the unforgettable 1993/94 UEFA Cup campaign. Norwich defeated Vitesse Arnhem before meeting Bayern Munich in the second round. The first leg in Germany became one of the defining nights in the club’s history, with Norwich winning 2–1 in Munich. Jeremy Goss scored the famous opening goal before Mark Bowen added the second.
The return at Carrow Road finished 1–1, allowing Norwich to progress 3–2 on aggregate. A surviving match-worn shirt from that second leg confirms that the same home design was used in the European tie. Norwich subsequently reached the UEFA Cup third round before their European run ended.
