The Liverpool 2026-27 Away Jersey combines a clean modern appearance with direct inspiration from some of the club’s most recognisable away shirts of the mid-1980s.

The shirt is built around a clean white base, complemented by red and grey detailing across the shoulders, sleeves and trim. The restrained colour combination gives the jersey a distinctly retro feel while maintaining a sharp contemporary silhouette. Liverpool confirmed that the design was specifically created as a modern interpretation of the club’s mid-1980s away identity.

One of the most distinctive details is found within the fabric itself. A subtle engineered tonal pattern takes inspiration from historic Anfield match tickets, incorporating archival-style graphic elements as a tribute to generations of supporters who have passed through the Anfield turnstiles.

The shirt is completed by a simplified heritage-style Liver bird crest, while the full match combination pairs the white jersey with red shorts and white socks. Liverpool first wore the new away kit against Wrexham at Yankee Stadium during the club’s 2026 pre-season tour of the United States.

The result is a design that deliberately connects two Liverpool eras: the classic white-and-red away identity of the 1980s and the club’s new generation of Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz, Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister and Bradley Barcola.

Season Information

Season/Year: 2026/27 Club: Liverpool FC Country: England Competition: Premier League / FA Cup / EFL Cup / UEFA Champions League Kit Type: Away Manager: Andoni Iraola Design Inspiration: Mid-1980s Away Shirts / Historic Anfield Match Tickets

The 2026/27 season represents the beginning of a new phase at Liverpool under Andoni Iraola. The squad has undergone further change, but its core still includes major figures such as Virgil van Dijk, Alisson Becker, Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak. Liverpool are also competing in the UEFA Champions League, with UEFA's current squad registration confirming the club’s 2026/27 European roster.

The attacking group has a particularly different look this season. Alexander Isak continues in No.9, Florian Wirtz wears No.7 and Hugo Ekitiké No.22, while France international Bradley Barcola joined Liverpool in August 2026 and selected No.29. Liverpool specifically confirmed that his shirt is printed B. BARCOLA 29.

Liverpool’s current midfield remains centred around Wirtz, Szoboszlai, Mac Allister and Gravenberch, while the defensive group includes captain Virgil van Dijk alongside Jérémy Jacquet, Milos Kerkez, Giovanni Leoni and Ronald Araújo. UEFA's Champions League registration currently lists Wirtz as No.7, Szoboszlai No.8, Mac Allister No.10, Gravenberch No.38, Van Dijk No.4 and Araújo No.33.

Against that contemporary squad backdrop, the away shirt deliberately looks backwards. Rather than introducing an entirely new colour identity, Liverpool returned to the white, red and grey language of the mid-1980s, while the match-ticket pattern gives the design an Anfield-specific historical connection. It makes the 2026/27 Away Jersey both a current-season shirt and a heritage-inspired Liverpool design.

Recommendation

ISAK 9

One of the leading attacking choices for 2026/27. Alexander Isak wears Liverpool’s iconic No.9 and remains one of the major figures in the current forward line.

WIRTZ 7

A standout midfield option. Florian Wirtz wears No.7 and is one of Liverpool’s principal creative players, making this a strong current-generation combination.

MAC ALLISTER 10

A strong midfield choice. Alexis Mac Allister carries No.10 and remains an important technical presence in Liverpool’s midfield.

SZOBOSZLAI 8

A highly recognisable option from the current squad. Dominik Szoboszlai continues in No.8 and provides attacking quality from midfield.

B. BARCOLA 29

A particularly fresh 2026/27 choice. Bradley Barcola joined Liverpool in August 2026 and officially selected No.29, with the club confirming the shirt printing as B. BARCOLA 29.

EKITIKÉ 22

A strong attacking alternative. Hugo Ekitiké wears No.22 and remains part of Liverpool’s current Champions League attacking group.

VAN DIJK 4

The classic captain’s choice. Virgil van Dijk continues in No.4 and provides the strongest defensive printing option for the shirt.

GAKPO 18

An established Liverpool attacking option. Cody Gakpo retains No.18 and remains part of the club’s 2026/27 forward group.

GRAVENBERCH 38

A distinctive midfield choice. Ryan Gravenberch continues in No.38 and offers an alternative to the more common attacking-player printings.

NGUMOHA 73

A youth-focused option from Liverpool’s emerging generation. Rio Ngumoha wears No.73 and is registered in Liverpool’s 2026/27 Champions League squad.

ISAK 9 is one of the strongest headline printing options for the Liverpool 2026-27 Away Jersey.

Alexander Isak carries Liverpool’s traditional No.9 shirt and is one of the highest-profile attacking players in the current squad. Liverpool’s August 2026 player information also places Isak among the club’s highest-rated current players alongside Van Dijk, Alisson, Szoboszlai and Wirtz.

For a printing that feels particularly specific to 2026/27, B. BARCOLA 29 is another notable choice. Barcola only joined Liverpool at the end of August 2026, and the club has explicitly confirmed both his No.29 selection and the B. BARCOLA shirt-name format.

WIRTZ 7 provides the leading creative-midfield alternative, while VAN DIJK 4 remains the classic choice for supporters wanting the captain rather than an attacking player.
