SINIŠA MIHAJLOVIĆ #11 — 1998–00 LAZIO GOLDEN ERA

Siniša Mihajlović wore the No.11 shirt for Lazio after joining the club in 1998, becoming a key figure in one of the most successful periods in the Biancocelesti’s history. Operating primarily as a central defender under Sven-Göran Eriksson, the Yugoslav international combined defensive authority with extraordinary set-piece ability, establishing himself as one of football’s most feared free-kick specialists.

His first season, 1998/99, produced one of the defining performances of his career. On 13 December 1998, Mihajlović scored a remarkable hat-trick of direct free kicks in Lazio’s 5–2 Serie A victory over Sampdoria — a feat FIFA records as the first three-free-kick hat-trick by a player in a single match. Lazio went on to finish just one point short of the Serie A title but conquered Europe, defeating Mallorca 2–1 to win the final UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup.

The success continued in 1999/00. After Lazio defeated European champions Manchester United to claim the 1999 UEFA Super Cup, Mihajlović played an important role as Eriksson’s side captured the historic Serie A and Coppa Italia double.
