The Dundee United 1987-88 Away Jersey is a classic late-1980s Scottish football design from one of the most memorable periods in the club’s history.

The 1987/88 season was another demanding campaign under legendary manager Jim McLean. Dundee United finished 5th in the Scottish Premier Division, reached the Scottish Cup Final, progressed to the League Cup quarter-finals and competed in the UEFA Cup. Across all competitions the team played 60 matches.
In Europe, United entered the UEFA Cup only months after reaching the previous season’s final. They defeated Coleraine 4–1 on aggregate in the opening round, with Paul Sturrock, Kevin Gallacher and John Clark among the scorers, before being eliminated by Vítkovice in the second round.
The season culminated in another major final at Hampden Park. Dundee United faced Celtic in the 1988 Scottish Cup Final, with a starting side containing Billy Thomson, David Narey, Paul Hegarty, Maurice Malpas, Eamonn Bannon, Kevin Gallacher, Mixu Paatelainen and Iain Ferguson. United led through Kevin Gallacher, but Celtic eventually came back to win 2–1.
Iain Ferguson finished as United's leading scorer with 16 goals in all competitions, including 11 in the league, while Maurice Malpas demonstrated remarkable consistency by appearing in 59 of the club's 60 matches.
