Celebrate one of the most memorable European campaigns in Celta Vigo's history with the Celta Vigo 1998–99 UEFA Cup Home Retro Football Jersey. Under manager Víctor Fernández, the Galician club established itself as an exciting force in Spanish and European football, combining technical attacking play with a talented international squad. Celta reached the UEFA Cup quarter-finals after impressive victories over Argeș Pitești, Aston Villa and Liverpool. Their remarkable European run included a 3–1 victory at Villa Park and consecutive wins against Liverpool, securing a convincing 4–1 aggregate triumph. Although Celta were eventually eliminated by Marseille, the campaign remains a defining achievement of the club's late-1990s golden era.
The squad featured several outstanding players who contributed to Celta's growing reputation. Russian playmaker Aleksandr Mostovoi was the team's creative inspiration, renowned for his exceptional passing, close control and attacking vision. Fellow Russian international Valery Karpin added energy and versatility, while Israeli midfielder Haim Revivo provided further creativity. Claude Makélélé established himself as a highly effective defensive midfielder, supporting an attacking line featuring Bulgarian striker Lyuboslav Penev and Jordi Cruyff. In defence, Míchel Salgado and Fernando Cáceres contributed experience and reliability, helping Celta compete against established European opponents.
The European home jersey features Celta Vigo's traditional sky-blue colour scheme, complemented by contrasting white and navy detailing. Its clean design differs from the pinstriped domestic home shirt associated with the same season, giving the European edition a distinctive identity. The club crest and prominent Citroën sponsor complete the classic late-1990s appearance. Closely associated with Celta's famous victories over Aston Villa and Liverpool, this retro jersey captures the spirit of an unforgettable European campaign and remains a distinctive collector's piece for supporters of the Galician club.
